Hyderabad Rains Bring Relief, Waterlogging and Traffic Chaos
Hyderabad Rains: Relief, Waterlogging, Traffic Jams

Dark clouds swept across Hyderabad on Thursday evening, bringing much-needed relief from the summer heat but leaving behind waterlogged roads, traffic congestion and slow-moving vehicles across several parts of the city.

The showers, which lashed several localities under the GHMC limits, also extended to several districts across Telangana, with the IMD forecasting more thunderstorms and gusty winds in the coming days.

The evening showers disrupted traffic at several key junctions across the city. Waterlogging was reported at GRT Somajiguda and near Praja Bhavan, slowing vehicular movement in surrounding areas. Traffic congestion was witnessed from Monappa Junction and Praja Bhavan towards Begumpet Road, while continuous rainfall led to slow-moving traffic on the Greenlands Flyover towards Begumpet.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places in Mulugu, Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal and Hanumakonda districts.

Gusty winds are also likely over northern districts, including Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Sircilla and Karimnagar. The IMD has also warned that isolated heatwave conditions may continue in some parts of the state despite the rainfall activity.
