A violent clash erupted between two groups over fishing rights in the Ganga Barrage area under Kohna police station limits in Kanpur, leaving two cousins seriously injured. The accused allegedly fired shots and brandished swords to assert dominance, though official confirmation regarding the firing is pending. Police have arrested five individuals in connection with the incident.

Incident Details

The confrontation occurred at Gate No. 10 of the Barrage. Shubham, alias Maka, a fishing mafia member and resident of Machhwa Nagar in Purana Kanpur, stated that he went there on Monday morning with his cousin Abhishek to fish. A group from Rampur village arrived and objected to the fishing, hurling abuses and claiming exclusive rights over the area.

Threats and Attack

The accused allegedly threatened to kill the duo if they returned to fish. When Shubham and Abhishek protested, the assailants attacked them with rods, sticks, and sharp-edged weapons, causing serious injuries. Eyewitnesses reported that some of the accused brandished swords and weapons to intimidate and spread terror.

Escape and Arrests

Hearing the commotion, nearby villagers rushed to the scene. Finding themselves surrounded, the accused fired shots into the air and fled. The incident triggered panic. Police arrived, sent the injured to a hospital, and later arrested five suspects. A video of the incident went viral on social media.
