The Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights (KWOHR) and the Kuki Women Union (KWU) on Wednesday organised a 'Mass Rally for Justice, Truth, and Accountability' across four districts in Manipur. The protests took place in Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Chandel, and Tengnoupal, demanding action against the April 24 attacks on Mulam and Songphel villages.
Rally Details
The rally commenced around noon from Koite playground and proceeded towards the Wall of Remembrance. Participants carried placards and chanted slogans calling for justice and accountability for the victims of the attacks.
Memorandum to Prime Minister
A memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister through the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur. The memorandum urged urgent judicial intervention in the N Biren Singh audio tape case and immediate action against the alleged attacks on the Kuki villages of Mulam and Songphel.
The Kuki women's groups emphasised the need for truth and accountability, stating that the attacks had caused widespread fear and displacement among the affected communities. They called for a thorough investigation and prosecution of those responsible.
The rallies were peaceful and well-attended, with participants from various walks of life joining in solidarity. The organisers vowed to continue their efforts until justice is served.
