MDU Rohtak Sets Up Research Centre for Delhi-NCR Issues

The Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, announced on Thursday that it will establish a 'Centre for Developing Research-Based Solutions' to tackle the growing environmental, urban and socio-economic challenges of the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR). The proposal, which includes setting up an 'AI-Driven Economic Observatory' to monitor regional socio-economic dynamics, was approved by the university’s Executive Council (EC) during its 305th meeting.

Interdisciplinary Research Focus

The proposed centre will undertake interdisciplinary research on critical issues such as rapid urbanisation, environmental conservation, water resource management, pollution control, sustainable development, public policy and socio-economic transformation. The AI-driven Economic Observatory will leverage artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics to generate real-time insights for evidence-based policymaking and regional planning, according to Pankaj Nain, Public Relations Officer of the university.

Vice-Chancellor's Vision

Describing the initiative as a significant step towards strengthening the university’s societal engagement, MDU Vice-Chancellor Milap Punia said the university aims to move beyond conventional academic research by developing practical, research-backed solutions for governments, policymakers, industry and society. He emphasised that the institution's focus remains on promoting quality education, innovation and impactful research in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
