Moderate rainfall continues across Karnataka's Dharwad district, as reported by the district rain bulletin on July 8, 2026. The Malaprabha River is receiving an inflow of 13,700 cusecs, contributing to the Renuka Sagar reservoir's storage level of 10 tmc, against its full capacity of 37 tmc.
Rainfall Impact on Water Resources
The persistent showers have bolstered water levels in key reservoirs. According to district officials, the current storage in Renuka Sagar stands at 27% of its total capacity, providing some relief to the region's water supply. However, the inflow remains moderate compared to historical averages for this period.
Local Agricultural and Daily Life
Farmers in Dharwad have welcomed the rain as it supports kharif crops, though waterlogging in low-lying areas has caused minor disruptions. The district administration has advised residents to stay cautious near riverbanks and low-lying zones as water levels may rise further with continued precipitation.
