Koppal: New facilities for girl students at Sri Gavisiddeshwara Gurukul, an initiative of the Sri Shivashanthaveera Swami Charitable Trust of Gavi Mutt, were inaugurated on Sunday at Kolur-Katralli village in Koppal taluk. Seers and public representatives highlighted the institution's role in expanding access to free education and residential support.
New Infrastructure Inaugurated
The newly inaugurated facilities include a PU university college building, hostel facilities, and a dining-cum-function hall for students. Abhinava Gavisiddheshwara Swami of Gavi Mutt stated that the initiative reflects a long-standing commitment to education, particularly for rural and underprivileged girls, aiming to provide both learning and accommodation support.
Impact on Education
Speakers noted that the gurukul has been providing free accommodation and food to thousands of students. The addition of new buildings is expected to further strengthen access to education in the region. Educationist Prabhakar Kore underscored the contribution of mutts in promoting education and social service.
Former IAS officer Chinmayi (2015 batch) emphasized that free education and hostel facilities play a crucial role in encouraging rural students to pursue higher studies. Public representatives, including legislators and former ministers, described the gurukul as a model educational centre. They stressed that education is essential not only for employment but also for building responsible citizens.
