Orange Alert Issued for Himachal Pradesh as Heavy Rain and Hailstorms Loom

The State Meteorological Centre has issued an orange weather alert for Shimla, Kullu, and Mandi districts in Himachal Pradesh, warning of heavy rainfall accompanied by hailstorms, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds at isolated places on June 19, 2026. Additionally, a yellow alert has been declared for Kangra and Chamba districts, where light to moderate rain with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is anticipated.

Continuous Precipitation Forecast Till June 22

The weather office has predicted continuous precipitation across the state until June 22. Thereafter, dry weather is expected in the plains and low hills, while mid and high hills may continue to receive precipitation until June 24. Minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to remain normal during this period.

Rainfall Recorded in Past 24 Hours

In the last 24 hours, light rainfall was recorded in many parts of the state. Rajgarh in Sirmaur district received the highest rainfall at 45 mm. Other notable rainfall measurements include Sundernagar with 17.3 mm, Palampur with 16.6 mm, Mandi with 14.4 mm, Bhuntar with 9.4 mm, and Shimla with 3 mm.

Temperature Observations

No major changes in temperatures were observed. Minimum temperatures across the state ranged between 6°C and 26°C, while maximum temperatures ranged between 21°C and 37°C. The highest maximum temperature was recorded at Neri village in Hamirpur at 37.2°C, and the lowest minimum temperature was 6.1°C at Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti.

Other temperature readings include Shimla at 26.6°C, Dharamsala at 32°C, Manali at 25.5°C, Solan at 31°C, Kangra at 34.2°C, Mandi at 33.8°C, Sundernagar at 33.9°C, Kufri at 19.7°C, Bhuntar at 32.6°C, Kalpa at 24.8°C, Keylong at 18.3°C, Nahan at 33.3°C, and Chamba at 32.3°C.
