Ornaments worth Rs 7 lakh stolen from Krishnagiri temple

In a brazen act of theft, gold and silver ornaments valued at Rs 7 lakh were stolen from a Mariamman temple located at Jargalatti near Krishnagiri on Friday night. The incident came to light on Saturday morning when a local resident discovered the temple's lock had been broken and immediately alerted other villagers. They promptly reported the matter to the Denkanikottai police.

Upon receiving the information, police personnel arrived at the scene and entered the temple in the presence of the priest. A thorough inspection revealed that the ornaments adorning the deity were missing. The stolen items include thalis, pendants, coins, thali shells, and a silver crown, collectively valued at Rs 7 lakh, as confirmed by a police officer.

The police have registered a case and initiated investigations to identify the culprits. Further details are awaited as the probe progresses.
