Punya Nadi Harathi Relaunched at Ibrahimpatnam Sangam

Vijayawada: The Punya Nadi Harathi programme was ceremonially relaunched on Friday evening at the sacred sangam in Ibrahimpatnam under the aegis of Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam, following directions from the Andhra Pradesh government and the endowments department commissioner. The event was organised with the support of the NTR district administration.

Special Rituals and Offerings

Special rituals were performed under the guidance of temple Sthanacharya V Siva Prasad Sharma, seeking the welfare of the state and its people. As part of the ceremonies, turmeric, kumkum and silk clothes were offered to the river goddess. Temple priests later offered Panchaharathis to the sacred river.

Vision for the Programme

Speaking on the occasion, temple trust board chairman Borra Radhakrishna said rivers and temples hold immense significance in Indian tradition. He said the river Harathi programme had been revived under the directions of the state government and would be developed into a major spiritual attraction under the stewardship of the Kanaka Durga temple administration.

He added that plans were being drawn up to conduct the programme on a grand scale, restoring the glory it enjoyed in the past and attracting devotees and tourists alike. The revival is expected to boost religious tourism in the region and strengthen cultural ties.
