Barwani: A nearly 10-foot-long python along with 11 eggs was rescued from a farmer’s field in Mandwada village under Anjad police station limits in Barwani district on Monday afternoon.
The reptile was spotted by a farmer while he was working in his field. He noticed the python coiled up inside a patch of bushes and found several eggs lying nearby. The sight prompted him to alert fellow villagers, following which a crowd gathered at the spot.
After receiving information from local residents, snake rescuer Nilesh Upadhyay reached the location and initiated a rescue operation. The area was first cleared of onlookers to ensure safety before the reptile was carefully captured.
According to Upadhyay, the rescue operation lasted for nearly half an hour. The python was safely secured and 10 to 11 eggs found near it were also carefully collected. No injuries or damage were reported during the operation.
Upadhyay said the sighting coincided with the breeding season of pythons. During this period, female pythons often leave forested areas in search of warm and secure locations to lay eggs, including agricultural fields, dense bushes and isolated spots.
Following the rescue, the python and all of its eggs were released into a suitable forest habitat in their natural environment.
