The Meteorological Centre in Shimla has issued a yellow weather alert for several districts in Himachal Pradesh, forecasting intensified rainfall from June 30 onwards. The alert, effective until July 4, warns of widespread light to moderate rain across the state, with isolated heavy showers expected to begin June 30.
Temperature Drop Expected
According to the Met Centre, minimum temperatures are likely to decrease by 2°C to 3°C, while maximum temperatures may drop by 3°C to 5°C during this period. This cooling trend follows a spell of dry weather in most parts of the state over the past 24 hours, with only isolated light to moderate rainfall recorded.
Recent Temperature Readings
Maximum temperatures across the state ranged between 21°C and 38°C, while minimum temperatures were between 8°C and 29°C. Specific readings include: Shimla 27.4°C, Dharamshala 33°C, Manali 28.8°C, Solan 32°C, Kangra 36.8°C, Mandi 35.6°C, Sundernagar 35.5°C, Bilaspur 37°C, Kufri 21.5°C, Keylong 25.9°C, Reckong Peo 30.9°C, Bhuntar 35.1°C, Kalpa 26.6°C, and Nahan 32.5°C.
Extremes Recorded
The highest maximum temperature in the state was 38°C in Una, while the lowest minimum temperature was 8.3°C in Kukumseri, Lahaul and Spiti district. The Met Centre advises residents and travelers to stay prepared for potential disruptions due to heavy rain and possible landslides in vulnerable areas.
