Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHSR) in Rohtak has joined Haryana's green campus mission by planting 151 shade-giving and fruit-bearing saplings on its premises. Plantation Drive Details

The campaign took place on the grounds of the Department of Nuclear Medicine, with Vice-Chancellor Dr H.K. Aggarwal leading the effort. He urged every employee and student to plant at least one sapling during the monsoon season and nurture it until it matures into a tree. Dr Aggarwal emphasized that trees are the foundation of life and highlighted how the Covid-19 pandemic underscored the critical importance of oxygen. He noted that increasing green cover, especially around the Nuclear Medicine Department where radiation-related work occurs, would help create a cleaner environment and provide a soothing atmosphere for patients and staff.

Species Planted and Benefits

PGIMS Director Dr SK Singhal revealed that the saplings included species such as Amaltas, Jamun, Gulmohar, and Amla. These species are known for providing shade, environmental benefits, and medicinal properties. The initiative aims to expand the university's green cover by utilizing vacant spaces identified by department heads.
