Bhopal: Days after a stray dog in Shivpuri allegedly attacked 67 people, including toddlers, panic has now spread to Morena's Sabalgarh town, where a stray dog has bitten 57 people in just three days.
Attack Details
According to health officials, the dog attacked 31 people on May 30, 22 on May 31, and four on June 1. Most victims sustained bite injuries on the legs and hands and were administered anti-rabies vaccines at local health facilities.
Victims and Locations
The incidents have been reported from different localities of Sabalgarh, with children, students, and pedestrians among those injured. Residents alleged that the dog continued attacking people for three consecutive days despite repeated complaints to civic authorities.
Rising Dog Bite Cases
Health officials said dog bite cases have been steadily rising in Morena district, which records nearly 25,000 such cases annually. Nearly half the patients are treated either at the district hospital in Morena or referred to JAH hospital in Gwalior, increasing pressure on anti-rabies vaccine supplies.
Concerns Over Stray Dog Management
The back-to-back incidents in Shivpuri and Morena have intensified concerns over stray dog management in urban areas, officials said. Municipal authorities in Sabalgarh said a team has been formed to trace and capture the dog responsible for the attacks.
