A 15-year-old girl was bitten by a snake on the campus of Surat International Airport on Saturday while cutting grass with some of her family members near the vehicle parking area. Airport officials stated that the girl had allegedly entered the open area to cut grass, possibly for cattle feed. Shortly after the incident, she was rushed to the New Civil Hospital for treatment.
Medical Condition and Treatment
Doctors have reported that the exact species of the snake has not yet been identified. The girl is currently undergoing treatment and remains under close observation, with her condition described as critical. Medical staff are monitoring her vital signs and administering necessary antivenom therapy.
Investigation Initiated
Officials have launched an investigation to determine how the girl and her family managed to enter the open area inside the airport premises. The family, originally from Banswara district in Rajasthan, had come to Surat for labor work. Security protocols at the airport are being reviewed to prevent such incidents in the future.
The incident highlights the risks faced by migrant workers and their families who often live near airport boundaries. Authorities are coordinating with local police to ensure safety measures are strengthened.
