Lucknow witnessed two tragic wall collapse incidents on Monday, resulting in the deaths of two young men and injuries to two others, as strong winds and heavy rain lashed the city.
Incident in Madiaon
In the Madiaon area, 34-year-old Ankit Sharma lost his life when a dilapidated brick wall collapsed in Bharat Nagar. Sharma was in the process of removing a car wheel for puncture repair when the adjacent wall suddenly gave way, trapping him under the debris. He was immediately rushed to KGMU Trauma Centre, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. A puncture mechanic who was present at the scene sustained minor injuries and was treated locally.
Incident in Vibhuti Khand
In a separate incident in Vibhuti Khand, a boundary wall of a car service centre collapsed onto a roadside tea stall operated by brothers Amit Yadav and Amrish Yadav. Both brothers, along with two customers, were trapped under the rubble. Amit Yadav succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a nearby hospital. His brother Amrish sustained injuries and is undergoing medical care. The two customers, however, escaped unhurt.
The city administration has been alerted, and local authorities are assessing the damage caused by the severe weather. Residents are advised to remain cautious and avoid vulnerable structures during such conditions.
