A lone wild elephant bathing in a pond along the road in the forest area between Anchetty and Denkanikottai on Tuesday drew curious motorists to stop and click pictures. The Anchetty forest area near Hosur in Krishnagiri district is home to a large number of wild animals including elephants, deer, and boars.

Elephant Sighting Attracts Attention

Locals said wild animals are occasionally seen visiting roadside pits even during the day, in summer. "Motorists passing by stopped to watch the elephant bathing and took photographs," said S Madesappa, a villager. The sighting created a brief traffic halt as people pulled over to capture the moment.

Forest Department Warning

However, the forest department has warned motorists not to park their vehicles or take pictures, to prevent human-animal conflicts. Officials emphasized that such interactions can be dangerous for both humans and wildlife. They urged drivers to remain inside their vehicles and move on without stopping.

The incident highlights the increasing encounters between humans and wild animals in the region, especially during summer when water sources become scarce. The forest department is monitoring the area and has advised local authorities to put up signboards cautioning motorists about wildlife crossings.
