The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has initiated road construction and repair projects valued at Rs 2.53 crore. These projects are spread across multiple wards and aim to upgrade the city's road network, addressing long-standing issues of potholes and congestion.
Scope of the Projects
The civic body has allocated funds for resurfacing, widening, and strengthening of roads in key areas. The initiative covers both arterial roads and internal lanes, ensuring better connectivity for residents and businesses.
Key Wards Covered
- Ward 25: Major road repairs and drainage improvements
- Ward 32: Resurfacing of main thoroughfares
- Ward 44: Construction of new stretches to decongest traffic
- Ward 51: Upgradation of link roads
Officials stated that the projects are expected to be completed within six months, barring unforeseen delays. The corporation has also deployed quality control teams to monitor the work.
Public Response
Residents have welcomed the move, emphasizing that poor road conditions had been a persistent problem. “We hope the work is done with proper quality and on time,” said a local shopkeeper. The corporation has urged citizens to cooperate during the construction phase and use alternative routes where possible.
This development aligns with the city's broader infrastructure plan, which includes projects worth over Rs 100 crore in the current fiscal year. The focus remains on sustainable urban mobility and safety.
