The state endowments department of Andhra Pradesh has initiated a comprehensive renovation project for over 40 ancient temples across five districts, with a budget of ₹51 crore, in preparation for the 2027 Godavari Pushkarams. This major religious event, often referred to as the 'Kumbh Mela of the South', is scheduled to take place from June 26 to July 7, 2027, and is expected to attract nearly 10 crore pilgrims.
Government Preparations for the Mega Event
The state government has already constituted a 12-member Group of Ministers (GoM) to oversee all necessary arrangements for the Godavari Pushkarams. Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, who chairs the GoM, emphasized that the best possible arrangements are being made under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
