Ahmedabad: After two consecutive days of temperatures exceeding 44 degrees Celsius, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 43.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, which was 1.6 degrees above normal. This was the second-highest maximum temperature in the state on Tuesday, after Rajkot which recorded 43.6 degrees Celsius.
Minimum Temperature Below Normal
The minimum temperature in Ahmedabad was 25.7 degrees Celsius, which was 0.4 degrees below normal, indicating cooler nighttime conditions compared to the daytime heat.
IMD Forecast for Gujarat
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the maximum temperature on Wednesday is likely to be around 43 degrees Celsius. The forecast for Gujarat issued on Tuesday stated: "Gradual fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures during the next 4 days; thereafter no large change very likely over the region. Maximum temperatures are very likely to be in the range of 40 degrees Celsius to 44 degrees Celsius in the isolated pockets of inland areas of Gujarat state and in the range of 35 degrees Celsius to 39 degrees Celsius in the isolated pockets of coastal areas of Saurashtra-Kutch during the next three days."
Hot and Humid Conditions in Coastal Areas
Parts of the state's coastal regions experienced hot and humid weather. Other cities and towns with high temperatures on Tuesday included:
- Amreli: 42.9 degrees Celsius
- Gandhinagar and Surendranagar: 42.8 degrees Celsius each
- Vadodara: 42.6 degrees Celsius
- VV Nagar and Kandla: 41.5 degrees Celsius each
It is notable that the state has experienced scorching heat for the past couple of days, with most cities recording maximum temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius.
