In a dramatic show of solidarity with Tehran, supporters of the Iran-backed Kata'ib Sayyid al-Shuhada Brigades gathered outside the Iranian Embassy in Baghdad on Saturday. Waving Iranian and Iraqi flags and carrying portraits of Iran's Supreme Leader, demonstrators celebrated what they described as Iran's victory over the United States.
Fiery Scenes at the Rally
Fiery scenes unfolded as protesters tore apart, trampled, and burned U.S. and Israeli flags, chanting anti-American and anti-Israeli slogans. Women were also among the hundreds who joined the rally, turning the demonstration into a powerful display of support for Iran and resistance-aligned groups across the region.
Chants Against America and Israel
The crowd shouted slogans denouncing U.S. hegemony and Israeli policies, with many holding banners that read "Victory for the Resistance Axis." The protest was organized by Kata'ib Sayyid al-Shuhada, a Shia militia group closely aligned with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The rally comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States, following recent diplomatic and military confrontations. Demonstrators expressed unwavering support for Iran's leadership and its regional proxies, vowing to continue resistance against what they termed "American imperialism."
The Iraqi government has not officially commented on the protest, but similar gatherings have taken place in other parts of Iraq in recent weeks, reflecting deep sectarian and political divides in the country.
