Patna: Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar on Sunday emphasized the deep-rooted historical relationship between Bihar and Punjab, characterized by mutual affection and respect. Addressing a delegation of 50 youths from Punjab under the Yuva Sangam Phase-6 of the 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat' scheme at IIT-Patna (IIT-P), Kumar noted that the people of both states are hardworking, dedicated, and have contributed significantly to the country's all-round development.
Historical and Cultural Connections
Kumar highlighted that Punjab's development has been possible through important contributions from the people of Bihar. Both states share a profound religious and cultural connection, with Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib being the birthplace of Guru Govind Singh, the 10th and last Guru of Sikhs.
Yuva Sangam Programme Objectives
In his welcome address, IIT-Patna Director T N Singh stated that programmes like 'Yuva Sangam' serve as a powerful platform for exchanging the country's literary, historical, and cultural heritage. Such initiatives provide young people from different states an opportunity to closely understand each other's language, culture, traditions, religious beliefs, and social values.
Singh said that IIT-Patna has been designated as the nodal institution for the 'Yuva Sangam' programme in Bihar. The programme aims at strengthening emotional unity, mutual understanding, and national integration among the youth of different states and Union Territories of the country.
Delegates' Itinerary in Bihar
As part of the programme, the delegates will be introduced to Bihar's cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and glorious legacy. They will visit the Mahabodhi temple, Mangla Gauri temple, and Vishnupad temple at Gaya, Ghora Katora Lake, the ruins of the ancient Nalanda University and the modern Nalanda University at Rajgir, and Pawapuri Jal Mandir, enabling them to closely experience Bihar's historical and cultural heritage.
