The India Meteorological Department has issued a significant weather alert for Bihar residents, warning of a substantial drop in temperatures across the state following a period of relatively stable weather conditions.
Sharp Temperature Decline Expected
According to IMD predictions, minimum temperatures across Bihar are set to plunge by 2-4 degrees Celsius in the coming days. This cooling trend marks a distinct shift from the recent mild weather patterns that had characterized the region.
The mercury is expected to slide dramatically, with current minimum temperatures of 14-16°C dropping to 10-12°C by December 3. The change will be particularly noticeable in specific regions of the state.
Affected Districts and Regional Impact
The south-western districts of Bihar will bear the brunt of this temperature decline. Areas including Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Bhabhua, Aurangabad, and Arwal are among those expecting the most significant cooling.
Similarly, south-central regions won't be spared from the chill. Districts such as Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Nawada, and Jehanabad will also experience this substantial temperature drop.
Meteorological Explanation and Weather Patterns
Ashish Kumar, Director of IMD Patna, attributed this developing weather pattern to westerly winds originating from the Indo-Gangetic plains. He explained that this cooling pattern will likely fluctuate over the upcoming two months as winter establishes its grip on the region.
"Temperatures will remain steady for the next 2-3 days, but a clear 2-3°C drop is likely within 72 hours," Kumar confirmed, signaling the definite onset of a cold spell in Bihar.
The state recorded no rainfall during the past 24 hours, while maximum temperatures ranged between 25.5°C and 30.2°C. Forbesganj in Araria district recorded the highest maximum temperature at 31.2°C, while Aurangabad experienced the lowest minimum temperature at 11.1°C.
Weather officials anticipate dry conditions to persist for at least a week, with isolated areas potentially experiencing light to moderate morning fog over the next two days.
