In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Cachar police conducted a late-night operation on Thursday and seized approximately 60,000 suspected Yaba tablets valued at around Rs 18 crore in the black market. A 44-year-old man from Manipur was arrested in connection with the seizure.
Operation Details
Acting on a specific intelligence input, the police intercepted an SUV that was arriving from Mizoram. The vehicle was thoroughly searched, leading to the recovery of the contraband tablets and a mobile phone. The accused was identified as Ngamlen (44), a resident of Jaolen Kumbi Pukhri village in the Churachandpur district of Manipur.
Interstate Network Suspected
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused is part of an interstate drug trafficking network. The police are now working to trace the source of the tablets and their intended destination. Officials have registered a case and are conducting a detailed probe to uncover the entire supply chain.
The estimated black-market value of the seized consignment is around Rs 18 crore, making it one of the significant hauls in the region this year. The police have not ruled out the involvement of other individuals and are following leads to dismantle the network.
