Patriarch Mar Awa III, the global head of the Chaldean Syrian Church of the East, arrived in Thrissur on Wednesday from Iraq for a five-day visit to India. This marks his second visit to the country.
Arrival and Reception
The Patriarch was accompanied by Bishop Mar Benyamin Elya, the synod secretary and bishop of Victoria and New Zealand, as well as Mar Paulus Benjamin, the bishop of Eastern USA. Upon arrival, he was given a warm reception by Metropolitan Mar Awgin Kuriakose, Mar Yohannan, members of the central board of trustees, and priests of the Chaldean Syrian Church at Marth Mariam Big Church.
Upcoming Holy Qurbana
Patriarch Mar Awa III will lead a Holy Qurbana at Marth Mariam Big Church Cathedral in Thrissur on Friday morning. The service will also serve as a joint memorial for all departed bishops in India.
Patriarch's Remarks
During his speech at the church, the Patriarch expressed that frequent prayers had helped him reach India safely amid ongoing wars and conflicts. He emphasized the importance of faith and prayer in times of turmoil.
This visit underscores the strong ties between the Chaldean Syrian Church in India and its global leadership. The church community in Thrissur eagerly anticipates the Patriarch's blessings and guidance during his stay.
