Cloud Seeding in Hubballi, Haveri Within Two Days

Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiholi announced on Saturday that cloud seeding operations in Hubballi and Haveri districts will commence within the next two days. Speaking to reporters after chairing a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority in Dharwad, Jarkiholi confirmed that all necessary preparations for the cloud-seeding operation are underway.

Details of the Cloud Seeding Plan

The minister stated that the operation aims to address water scarcity in the region by inducing artificial rain. The decision follows a review of the current monsoon situation and water storage levels in reservoirs serving Hubballi and Haveri. Jarkiholi emphasized that the state government is committed to mitigating the impact of insufficient rainfall through this scientific intervention.

Preparation and Implementation

According to Jarkiholi, the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) has been tasked with coordinating the cloud seeding process. Aircraft and seeding agents, including silver iodide, are being readied for deployment. The operation will target specific cloud formations identified by meteorological experts to maximize effectiveness. Jarkiholi noted that similar operations in previous years have yielded positive results in other parts of the state.
