The jumbos were spotted on Saturday at the edge of the forest even after causing destruction in the village.

Incident Details

The Binnyaguri forest area falls under the Rupsi Range Office. Upon receiving information about the herd causing damage, Range Officer Rihung Brahma rushed to the spot. With the assistance of forest beat office staff members, they managed to drive the elephants away from the village after considerable effort and time.

“By the time we reached the spot, the herd had already razed several houses to the ground, uprooted numerous coconut, betel nut, and banana trees, and consumed paddy stored in the houses. We have relocated the villagers to another village,” Brahma added.
