Who Are the Honorees?
The four Indian Americans recognized are Dr. K. R. Sridhar, founder and CEO of Bloom Energy; Dr. Rakesh Jain, a professor at Harvard Medical School; Dr. Renu Khator, chancellor of the University of Houston; and Dr. Suresh V. Garimella, president of the University of Vermont. Each has excelled in their respective fields, ranging from clean energy to academia.
Contributions and Impact
Dr. Sridhar's Bloom Energy develops fuel cell technology aimed at providing clean, reliable energy. Dr. Jain is a leading researcher in tumor biology and drug delivery. Dr. Khator has been a transformative leader in higher education, while Dr. Garimella has advanced engineering research and education. According to Carnegie Corporation president Vartan Gregorian, these immigrants "enrich our nation with their talents and dedication."
