Gurgaon recorded the lowest minimum temperature in Haryana on Tuesday, as several parts of the city experienced light drizzle and a cloudy sky in the morning, providing temporary relief from the heat. According to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Chandigarh meteorological centre, the average minimum temperature in Haryana rose by 0.3 degrees Celsius compared with the previous day, though it remained near normal across the state.
Temperature Details
The IMD bulletin noted that Gurgaon recorded the state's lowest minimum temperature at 21°C, which was 2.2 degrees below normal. Rohtak followed at 22°C, while Chandigarh recorded 22.8°C. Around 9 am, certain parts of Gurgaon witnessed light drizzle and overcast conditions.
Maximum Temperatures
IMD data on maximum temperatures showed that Haryana's average daytime temperature increased by 1.3 degrees Celsius compared with Monday, though it remained 1.7 degrees below normal overall. Sirsa was the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 44.4°C. Hisar recorded 42.4°C, Mahendragarh 42.2°C and Rohtak 41.1°C.
In Gurgaon, the AWS recorded 36.3°C, Gurgaon KVK 38°C and NorthCap University AWS 38.4°C. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 36°C on Monday. Among other stations, Ambala recorded a maximum temperature of 35.8°C, Karnal 34°C and Chandigarh 34.6°C.
Rainfall and Forecast
The IMD also recorded light rainfall at a few places in the state during the day. Hathinikund in Yamunanagar received 1.5 mm of rainfall, while Bawal in Rewari recorded 0.5 mm. In its seven-day forecast, IMD said isolated places in Haryana are likely to witness thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph till May 14. The department said light to moderate rainfall is likely at isolated locations during this period.
From May 15 onwards, weather conditions are expected to turn dry across the state. The IMD further said maximum temperatures in Haryana are likely to rise gradually by 4°C to 6°C over the next seven days.
Weather Officials' Statement
Weather officials said the present fluctuations in temperature are linked to changing western disturbance conditions, with no widespread severe heatwave conditions reported in the state so far. Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest forecasts and take necessary precautions during thunderstorm activity.
