Three men from Haryana's Jind have embarked on a more than 2,000-km foot march to Chennai in support of newly elected Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay. Carrying a banner reading “rajniti mei superstar ki entry” (superstar enters politics) along with a photograph of the Tamil Nadu leader, the trio reached Hathras on Tuesday during their journey.
Motivation Behind the March
Speaking to TOI, Sunil Raj (42), a lawyer, said, “This foot march aims to extend our support. We need a leader like Vijay, not someone who does not speak clearly, has a criminal record and has only a basic education. We need our leaders with higher education and good character.”
Support from a Journalist
Jasawant Kandeala, 35, a journalist with a Hindi daily, described Vijay as a “visionary leader who speaks of equality, secularism and youth empowerment”. He praised the inclusion of doctors and engineers among the newly elected legislators, calling it a “positive shift towards educated and capable leadership”.
YouTube Channel Owner's Perspective
Joginder Ramkali, who runs a YouTube news channel, praised Vijay for giving opportunities to educated people and those from humble backgrounds to become MLAs. Calling him “grounded and humble”, he said Vijay’s rise from repeated film failures to mass popularity was inspiring, and urged him to address the aspirations of educated youth across the country, not just in Tamil Nadu.
