Hubballi: Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds wreaked havoc in several parts of the city on Monday, disrupting normal life. The roofs of several houses were blown off due to the strong winds, causing extensive damage to four to five houses in Old Hubballi. Power supply was also disrupted in most areas due to the rain.

Tree Fall and Traffic Disruption

A huge tree fell on Sri Siddharoodh Mutt Road in Old Hubballi due to the heavy winds and rain, damaging an autorickshaw parked by the roadside. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. The fallen tree disrupted vehicular traffic for some time, causing delays for commuters.

Waterlogging and Traffic Jams

Due to poor drainage, waterlogging was reported near Unkal, causing severe inconvenience to motorists. The stretch from Unkal to Bharidevarakoppa was blocked, leading to long queues of vehicles. Many drivers had to take alternate routes to reach their destinations.

Power Restoration Efforts

Sources in Hescom stated that line staff have been deployed to restore power supply in Hubballi. “Supply has already been restored in some areas such as Vikas Nagar, Shirur Park, and Ravi Nagar. It may take about 12 hours to restore power across the city,” they said. Residents are advised to exercise caution and report any further incidents to the authorities.
