External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday jointly handed over an India-assisted agro-processing facility in South Trinidad along with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. The facility is powered by India's SEEDS initiative, which aims to support small and medium enterprises in developing countries.

In a social media post, Jaishankar stated, 'Delivering on another commitment made by PM @narendramodi in July 2025. Jointly handed over an agro-processing facility in South Trinidad along with @PM_Kamla, powered by India’s SEEDS initiative.' He further highlighted that the project will strengthen Trinidad and Tobago's SME ecosystem and provide new opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

The agro-processing facility is expected to boost the local economy by enabling small-scale farmers and processors to add value to their produce. It will also create jobs and enhance food security in the region.
