Union Minister Bhupender Yadav has declared that India is poised to rise as a force for global good, emphasizing the nation's commitment to climate action, sustainable development, and multilateral cooperation. Speaking at a recent event, the Minister highlighted India's proactive role in addressing global challenges, including climate change, poverty, and inequality.
India's Contributions to Global Welfare
Bhupender Yadav underscored India's significant contributions to global welfare, noting that the country has consistently advocated for the interests of developing nations. He pointed to India's leadership in the International Solar Alliance and its ambitious renewable energy targets as examples of its commitment to combating climate change. The Minister also highlighted India's efforts in providing affordable healthcare and vaccines to developing countries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Yadav, India's approach to global governance is rooted in the principles of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is one family). He stressed that India's policies are designed to promote inclusive growth and sustainable development, both domestically and internationally.
Focus on Sustainable Development
The Minister elaborated on India's achievements in sustainable development, including its progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He noted that India has lifted millions out of poverty, improved access to clean energy, and enhanced healthcare infrastructure. Yadav also emphasized the importance of climate justice, arguing that developed nations must take greater responsibility for historical emissions.
Yadav called for a collective global effort to address pressing issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and pandemics. He reiterated India's commitment to the Paris Agreement and its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
Strengthening Multilateralism
Bhupender Yadav also spoke about India's role in strengthening multilateral institutions. He highlighted India's contributions to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, and other global bodies. The Minister stressed the need for reforms in these institutions to make them more representative and effective in addressing contemporary challenges.
Yadav concluded by stating that India's rise as a global force is not just about economic growth but also about moral leadership. He expressed confidence that India will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping a better, more equitable world.
