Kanpur: The citizens of Kanpur Division endured scorching heat on Tuesday as the day's temperature climbed to 38.4 degrees Celsius, which is 0.8 degrees higher than Monday's reading. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning that the heat may intensify further in the coming days, with the mercury potentially touching 44 degrees Celsius by the end of this week.
Rising Night Temperatures
The minimum temperature also registered an increase and was recorded at 26.4 degrees Celsius, which is 2.2 degrees above normal. This rise in night temperature indicates that the upcoming nights are likely to remain hotter than usual, providing little relief to residents.
Weather Expert's Analysis
According to Dr. S Sunil Pandey, a weather expert at Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, dry weather accompanied by strong sunshine is expected in the Kanpur division on Wednesday. He stated that a gradual rise in day temperatures is likely to continue in the coming days, and the heat will intensify further.
South-eastern winds blowing at a speed of 5.4 to 11.3 kilometers per hour swept across the division, creating heatwave-like conditions. Dr. Pandey explained that a western disturbance is currently active over northwestern India, resulting in thunderstorms and strong winds from mountainous regions to the plains, including Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana.
Forecast and Precautions
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against the heat, such as staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure during peak hours, and wearing light clothing. The IMD continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
