Churachandpur: Security forces apprehended a KNA-B (Burma) cadre from the Zoveng locality of Churachandpur on Thursday. The individual has been identified as Lal Thang John, a resident of Zouveng, according to reports from the Assam Rifles. John had previously traveled to Myanmar to join the KNA (Burma) group. Sources indicate that he had infiltrated back into India from Myanmar and was reportedly planning to move towards the Ukhrul-Litan axis to incite unrest in the region.

Drug Seizure Operation

In a separate operation, the Churachandpur district police arrested Nehkholun Hangsing (45), a resident of K Sharonphai village. He was found in possession of three gunny bags containing 118 soap cases of brown sugar, weighing a total of 1,360 grams. The arrest and seizure were part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the area.

Security Concerns

The apprehension of the KNA-B cadre highlights the persistent security challenges in the region, with cross-border infiltration and potential attempts to destabilize peace. Authorities remain vigilant and continue to conduct operations to prevent such activities.
