Kolkata experienced a cloudy and windy Saturday, but the weather is expected to become warmer in the coming days, according to the Met office. The nor'wester that struck the city on Friday afternoon with wind speeds of up to 88 km/h kept the maximum temperature nearly two degrees below normal at 33.3 degrees Celsius on Saturday. The minimum temperature dropped to 23 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees below normal.
Gradual Warming Predicted
H.R. Biswas, Deputy Director-General of Meteorology, stated, "Since no further system is in sight and the wind patterns are not conducive to major thunderstorms, the city will get gradually warmer in the next two days. The maximum will climb to around 35 degrees Celsius, which is normal. The weather will become warm and humid."
Low Chances of Rain
While Monday may remain cloudy, weathermen have indicated low chances of rain or thunderstorms. However, isolated rain or thunderstorms are possible in some south Bengal districts from June 1 to 5, as per the Regional Meteorological Centre. In contrast, thunderstorms, rain, and lightning have been predicted across north Bengal, particularly in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Jalpaiguri districts.
