Kochi: The Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (Kufos) is set to organize a three-day international conference and expo titled 'Blue India 2026: International Conference and Expo on Blue Economy' starting Thursday at its campus. The event will witness the participation of nearly 500 delegates from across the globe, with more than 100 of them scheduled to deliver scientific presentations. Key officials from the fisheries department will also be in attendance.

Blue India 2026 is envisioned as a premier global forum operating in hybrid mode, focusing on collaboration in ocean governance, maritime security, and sustainable development. The conference aims to strengthen aquaculture and fisheries to ensure future food security.

Key Discussion Topics

The conference will deliberate on integrating ocean resources into national accounting frameworks, promoting sustainable coastal development and tourism, and advancing fisheries, aquaculture, and value-added fish processing. Delegates will also explore emerging marine industries, maritime trade and infrastructure, technological innovations, and governance of deep-sea mining and offshore energy.
