Kuwait City, June 3: Kuwaiti air defense networks successfully engaged and neutralized a series of incoming aerial threats on Wednesday following reports of loud explosions across multiple parts of the country amid escalating regional tensions in the Gulf.
Military Response and Public Advisory
In an official statement, the Kuwaiti Army's General Staff confirmed that the detonations heard by residents were directly linked to defensive operations by tactical units intercepting hostile projectiles. The military command announced that "Kuwaiti air defenses are currently confronting hostile missile and drone attacks. The General Staff of the Army notes that if explosion sounds are heard, they are the result of air defense systems intercepting the hostile attacks."
Following the engagements, the military issued an urgent advisory warning the public not to approach or handle any remnants, shrapnel, or unidentified materials found on the ground, stating that such objects pose serious safety risks.
Official Safety Guidelines
Ministry of Defence spokesperson Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi urged both citizens and residents to remain extremely vigilant and immediately report any suspicious debris to emergency services via the 112 hotline. He also called on the public to ignore unverified reports and rely only on official sources for information, emphasizing the need to follow safety instructions.
Iran's Claims and Regional Context
As Kuwaiti forces secured the domestic front, regional media began broadcasting unverified claims about the motives behind the attack. Iran's state broadcaster IRIB asserted that the strikes deliberately targeted American military infrastructure in Kuwait, describing the action as a direct response to recent Western maneuvers. According to IRIB, the assault was launched "following the hostile actions of the U.S. in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and Qeshm Island, American bases in Kuwait were hit."
The cross-border escalation comes amid rapidly deteriorating regional security and widening military friction involving United States forces and Iran. The situation remains fluid, with authorities urging calm and cooperation to ensure public safety.
