Lucknow Weather: Thunderstorm and Rain Give Way to Rising Temperatures

Lucknow residents experienced a pre-dawn thunderstorm accompanied by light to moderate rainfall across various parts of the city on Thursday. The day then featured partly cloudy skies, with light thunder activity occurring late in the evening.

Weather Shift Forecast

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Lucknow, weather conditions are set to change from Friday. The western disturbance and cyclonic circulations that caused thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall throughout the state in recent days have weakened. This means clear or partly cloudy skies, no rainfall, and a gradual rise in temperatures over the next three days.

Thursday's Observations

Earlier, dark clouds covered the city's sky through the morning, delaying daylight until around 9 am. This spell kept weather conditions pleasant. The maximum temperature recorded was 29.5 degrees Celsius, which is 10.2 units below normal, while the minimum temperature was 18 degrees Celsius, 6.3 notches below normal.

Expert Analysis

Senior scientist Mohammad Danish of IMD Lucknow predicted that rainfall activity may reduce from Friday, and temperatures will rise by 5 to 6 degrees in the next three days. He stated, "Coupled with high humidity levels due to moisture left behind by rainfall, weather will turn sultry with high discomfort levels." In Lucknow, the sky will be partly cloudy on Friday morning but will clear by noon. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 33 and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Statewide Conditions

Similar conditions will prevail in other parts of Uttar Pradesh. Another weather disturbance may become active around May 12-13, causing thunderstorms in the state, Danish added. Elsewhere, maximum temperatures ranged from 4 to 12 degrees below normal. The lowest maximum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius was recorded in Bijnor, followed by Hardoi at 26 degrees Celsius and Bareilly at 26.7 degrees Celsius. Banda remained the hottest place in the state with 37.4 degrees Celsius. Lakhimpur Kheri and Orai followed with 35.2 degrees Celsius each, while Jhansi recorded 34.8 degrees Celsius.
