Ludhiana: Residents of the city continued to experience warm weather on Thursday, with the maximum temperature settling at 38.6 degrees Celsius and the minimum recorded at 27.6 degrees Celsius, as per the Department of Climate Change and Agricultural Meteorology, Punjab Agricultural University.

Weather Conditions in Ludhiana

Although the temperature remained on the higher side, the sky remained partly cloudy. However, the weather felt pleasant due to a steady breeze that fanned the city. "We have not been stepping out in the afternoon, but it is fairly breezy today," said city resident Amandeep.

Forecast for the Coming Week

Despite the heat, weather conditions are expected to remain relatively stable over the coming week. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast partly cloudy skies for most days between June 19 and June 22, with day temperatures hovering around 37 degrees Celsius and night temperatures falling between 26 and 27 degrees Celsius. The forecast indicates that Ludhiana is unlikely to witness any major weather disturbances over the next few days.

According to the meteorological department, partly cloudy conditions will continue until June 22, before the sky becomes mainly clear on June 23 and June 24.

Potential Thunderstorm on June 21

While the temperature is not expected to rise sharply, humidity levels and warm overnight conditions may continue to make the weather feel uncomfortable, especially in the afternoon. The absence of significant rainfall is also likely to keep day temperatures close to the seasonal average. The met department has indicated the possibility of a thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and strong surface winds on June 21. This weather pattern reflects the gradual transition towards the monsoon.

Municipal Corporation's Monsoon Preparations

Meanwhile, amid earnest efforts being made by the Municipal Corporation (MC) to prepare for the monsoon and ensure cleanliness across the city, MC Commissioner Ojasvi Alankar reached Focal Point to resolve industrialists' grievances. He stated that as the monsoon is around the corner, the civic body is working to clean main sewer lines to prevent waterlogging. He added that the work would be completed by June 30. The MC Commissioner also urged industrialists to "adopt" green belts or parks in their surrounding areas. Taking strict action against open garbage dumping, the MC and police issued challans worth Rs 24,000 to a violator.
