Shillong: Meghalaya has been ranked among the 'leading performers' in project delivery within the northeastern region, according to a monitoring report released by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) in May. The state's planning, investment promotion, and sustainable development department issued a statement on Thursday highlighting the findings.
Project Completion Highlights
The report indicates that out of 81 monitored projects in Meghalaya, 46—nearly 57%—are either already completed or in their final stages of execution. Specifically, 14 projects valued at over Rs 200.92 crore have achieved 100% physical completion, while an additional 32 projects are between 75% and 100% complete.
Centrally Funded Projects
According to the physical-progress summary, 17 centrally funded projects are under review. Of these, 11 are being implemented by state departments and are actively in the tendering process, with work orders scheduled through June and July 2026. The remaining six projects were sanctioned directly by the Ministry of DoNER to central agencies such as NESAC, NECTAR, IICA, and NPCCL, placing execution responsibility with those agencies rather than the state government.
Government Commitment
The official statement emphasized that the state government remains fully committed to the timely delivery of all sanctioned projects and continues close monitoring to resolve any bottlenecks.
This recognition underscores Meghalaya's progress in infrastructure and development under the DoNER framework, reflecting efficient project management and coordination among state and central agencies.
