Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday drew a clear red line on terrorism, asserting that there can be no compromise or double standards when dealing with the menace. Speaking at the India-Nordic Summit in Copenhagen, Modi emphasized the need for a unified global approach to counter terrorism.
Strong Message Against Terrorism
Addressing the summit, PM Modi stated, "There can be no compromise on terrorism. There can be no double standards. We must all stand together against this global threat." He called for collective action to dismantle terrorist networks and their support systems.
India-Nordic Cooperation
The summit, which brought together leaders from India and the five Nordic countries—Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden—focused on enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, climate change, and security. Modi highlighted the shared values of democracy, rule of law, and human rights.
He also stressed the importance of a rules-based international order and expressed India's commitment to working with Nordic nations to address global challenges. The leaders discussed ways to deepen economic ties and collaborate on sustainable development.
Call for Global Unity
PM Modi's remarks come amid growing concerns over cross-border terrorism and the need for a coordinated international response. He reiterated India's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and urged the global community to adopt a similar stance.
The Indian leader also touched upon the situation in Afghanistan, emphasizing the need to prevent the country from becoming a safe haven for terrorist groups. He called for ensuring that Afghan soil is not used for terrorism against any nation.
Modi's strong stance on terrorism was widely appreciated by the Nordic leaders, who echoed the need for firm action against extremism. The summit concluded with a joint declaration reaffirming the commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms.
