PM Modi Urges Fuel Conservation, WFH, Carpooling Amid Crisis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to reduce fuel consumption amid the ongoing West Asia conflict and rising global energy concerns. Speaking in Secunderabad, Modi advised people to use petrol, diesel and gas “with great restraint” and encouraged metro travel, carpooling and maximum use of electric vehicles.

Reviving Covid-era Practices

Modi also suggested reviving practices from the Covid-19 pandemic era, such as work-from-home arrangements, virtual meetings and online conferences, to cut fuel usage. He emphasized that reducing dependence on imported fuel has become a national necessity during the current global crisis.

National Necessity

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of energy security for the nation, stating that every citizen's effort in conserving fuel contributes to India's resilience against external shocks. He called for collective action to minimize the impact of the West Asia conflict on India's energy supplies.

Modi's appeal comes as global oil prices remain volatile due to tensions in the Middle East, prompting governments worldwide to seek ways to stabilize energy markets. India, being a major importer of crude oil, is particularly vulnerable to such disruptions.

In his address, Modi also praised the role of electric vehicles in reducing fuel dependency and urged industries to accelerate the adoption of green technologies. He noted that the government's push for renewable energy and EVs aligns with the need for long-term energy independence.

The Prime Minister's call for conservation is expected to resonate with the public, especially as fuel prices have seen fluctuations in recent months. Citizens have been encouraged to plan their travel efficiently and consider alternative modes of transport.
