Monsoon Forecast for Goa
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday announced that the southwest monsoon is likely to set in over Kerala on May 26, with a model error margin of plus or minus four days. Meteorologist M R Ramesh Kumar expressed optimism about the upcoming rainy season for Goa, stating that the state is likely to receive normal monsoon rainfall this year.
“The onset of monsoon over Goa can be really tricky, as the monsoon does not progress linearly. It can slow down and stay at Karwar or it can advance over the entire west coast of India in a couple of days, depending on the surrounding synoptic conditions,” he said.
Kumar further said that climatologically, monsoon is expected to reach Goa around June 5.
