Rajkot remained the hottest weather station in Gujarat on Thursday, recording a scorching 42.4°C, even as maximum temperatures dipped slightly by one or two degrees across the state.
Nine cities recorded temperatures above 40°C, indicating persistent heatwave conditions.
IMD Forecast
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a marginal dip of 1-2 degrees is expected due to a Western Disturbance over Pakistan. However, maximum temperatures are likely to remain above 40°C in isolated pockets of Gujarat until May 4.
City-wise Temperatures
- Surendranagar followed Rajkot closely at 42.0°C.
- Ahmedabad recorded 41.7°C.
- Gandhinagar registered 41.0°C.
- Amreli (40.7°C)
- Bhavnagar (40.4°C)
- Vallabh Vidyanagar (40.3°C)
- Deesa and Bhuj also touched 40°C, reflecting widespread high temperatures across the state.
This persistent heatwave underscores the need for precautions against heat-related illnesses. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours.
