Repatriation of Mortal Remains Completed
The Indian Embassy in Doha announced on Saturday that the mortal remains of eight Indian nationals who died in the Ras Laffan industrial accident have been repatriated to India on June 26. This follows the earlier repatriation of four remains on June 25, completing the process for all 12 victims.
In a post on X, the embassy stated, "Mortal remains of 8 Indian nationals who unfortunately passed away in Ras Laffan accident have been repatriated to India on June 26. 4 out of 12 mortal remains had been repatriated on June 25." The embassy expressed gratitude to Qatari authorities, Indian community organizations, and Indian government authorities for their prompt support.
Diplomatic Engagement and Support for Injured
The Ambassador and embassy officials also visited injured Indian nationals in Al Khor, confirming that all injured have received appropriate medical attention. The embassy thanked Qatari authorities and employer company representatives for their care.
Earlier, on June 25, the embassy had confirmed the repatriation of four remains, stating, "The mortal remains of 4 out of 12 Indian nationals who unfortunately passed away in Ras Laffan incident are being repatriated to India today. We hope to repatriate other mortal remains also soon. Embassy has kept the families and authorities informed."
High-Level Bilateral Outreach
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted the close bilateral ties between New Delhi and Doha, detailing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a phone call from Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The Emir expressed deep grief over the loss of 12 Indian lives in the accident at Ras Laffan Industrial City on Sunday night. This tragic incident underscores the strong diplomatic bonds and mutual support between the two nations.
