Sikar villagers protest mining lease in Mandholi hills

In Jhunjhunu, villagers from Mandholi in the Neemkathana area of Sikar staged a protest on Monday against the proposed approval of mining lease No. 60 in the Mandholi hills. The demonstration began with a meeting at the public dharamshala of Mandholi village, where residents voiced their strong opposition to the mining lease. Following the meeting, they organized a rally from the dharamshala to the Chillai Mata temple, located atop the hill. Hundreds of villagers participated in the rally, raising slogans demanding the cancellation of the mining lease.

Villagers Vow to Intensify Agitation

Bhagwan Sahay, a villager, stated that if the mining lease on the Mandoli hills is approved, the agitation will be intensified further. He emphasized that mining activities would adversely impact religious sites, the natural environment, and the ecology of the region. Therefore, he demanded that the mining proposal be cancelled immediately.

Human Chain for Hill Conservation

During the demonstration, all the villagers climbed the hill and formed a human chain stretching approximately one kilometer along the hilltop. This act conveyed a strong message of hill conservation. The villagers declared that they would not allow mining in the hill area at any cost. They are determined to protect their cultural heritage and the local ecosystem from the potential harm of mining operations.
