In a tragic incident in Ranitari village of Balod district, a pack of over 20 stray dogs killed 10 goats on Wednesday, leaving a shepherd devastated as his primary source of income was wiped out in minutes.

Attack Details

Nirmal Yadav and his wife were grazing their herd when the dogs suddenly attacked. The pack surrounded the goats and began mauling them. The couple tried to intervene but were forced to flee as the dogs turned aggressive and posed a threat to their safety.

When the dogs finally dispersed, 10 goats lay dead on the ground. Returning to the spot, Nirmal broke down, clutching one of the dead animals. "I am ruined… I don't know how I will survive," he said, his voice choked with grief.

Rising Threat

Villagers reported that such attacks are becoming increasingly frequent, posing serious risks to livestock and even humans. The stray dog population in the area has grown unchecked, leading to heightened fear among residents.

The family has approached local authorities seeking compensation for their loss. Meanwhile, residents have demanded urgent action to control the stray dog menace, including sterilization drives and stricter enforcement of animal control measures.

Local officials have assured that the matter will be looked into and necessary steps taken to prevent future incidents.
