Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense reported on Tuesday that it detected two sorties of Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft and seven People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels operating around the island's territory. The incursions were monitored by Taiwan's air and naval forces, which responded with appropriate measures to ensure national security.
Details of the Incursions
The Chinese aircraft entered Taiwan's air defense identification zone (ADIZ) on two separate occasions, while the naval vessels were spotted near the island's waters. Taiwan's defense ministry stated that it had deployed aircraft and naval ships to track and respond to the Chinese activities, which were conducted in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Response from Taiwan
Taiwan's defense authorities emphasized that they remain vigilant against any potential threats to the island's sovereignty and security. The ministry reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region, while calling on China to cease such provocative actions.
This incident follows a series of similar Chinese military activities near Taiwan in recent months, which have raised tensions across the Taiwan Strait. The Chinese government has consistently asserted its territorial claims over Taiwan, which it considers a breakaway province, and has ramped up military drills and patrols around the island.
