A giant tamarind tree fell on a government bus near Uppalam in Dharmapuri on Tuesday, damaging the windshield and front portion of the vehicle. Passengers on the bus escaped unhurt.
Details of the Incident
According to an official source, the accident occurred when the bus, numbered 22, was heading towards Palacode after picking up school students from Pannialam village near Marandahalli. V Madhappan was at the wheel of the vehicle.
"Suddenly, a tamarind tree on the roadside got uprooted and fell on the moving bus, damaging its windshield and front portion. Only a few passengers were on board and none of them were injured," the source said.
Aftermath and Traffic Disruption
Villagers removed the fallen tree and restored the traffic, which had been disrupted for more than two hours on the Dharmapuri-Palacode stretch. The quick response of locals helped clear the road and ensure normal movement of vehicles.
