Mathura: Three individuals lost their lives, and two others sustained injuries after two motorcycles collided head-on in the Jamunapar area of Mathura, officials confirmed on Saturday. The tragic incident occurred near the Sihora turn on the Laxmi Nagar-Mahavan road at approximately 4 p.m. on Friday, when a motorcycle carrying two riders crashed into another motorcycle carrying three.
Details of the Accident
According to police, preliminary investigations indicate that none of the riders were wearing helmets, and both motorcycles were traveling at high speeds. Local residents rushed to the scene and alerted authorities, who transported the victims to a hospital via ambulances.
Victims Identified
One of the motorcycles was ridden by Gopichandra Singh, 18, a Class 10 student, who was returning to his village from Laxmi Nagar alongside his friend Chhotu Kumar, 18. Chhotu supported his family by creating decorative garments for idols of Lord Krishna.
The second motorcycle carried Saurabh Sharma, 20, a resident of Gokul and a cow protection volunteer, along with Piyush Singh, 19, and Udal Singh, 18. The group was heading toward Laxmi Nagar. Relatives confirmed that all three deceased were unmarried.
Casualties and Investigation
Police reported that Gopichandra, Chhotu, and Saurabh died in the collision, while Piyush and Udal were injured. DSP (Mathura) PP Singh stated, “The bodies have been handed over to the families after postmortem, and the injured are receiving treatment at the district hospital. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.”
The incident highlights the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of wearing helmets. Authorities urge all motorists to adhere to traffic safety measures to prevent such tragedies.
